A 21-year old girl was shot dead by her jilted lover outside her college in Faridabad, Haryana. The main accused Taufeeq has been arrested within the five hours of incident and the other one Rehan was nabbed by the ten member Special Investigation Team in Mewat.
On Monday, 21-year-old Nikita Tomar came out of her college after giving her examination. She was a B.Com. final year student. She came out with her classmates, and when she stepped out of her college named Aggarwal college, two assailants were there waiting for her in an i20 car.
One of the accused, Taufeeq coerced her to sit in the car, and when she retaliated, he shot her in the chest. The shooter immediately moved to his car, and both of them drove away. The incident took place at around 3.30 PM on Sunday and was recorded on CCTV.
The deceased’s father told the police that the accused had kidnapped Nikita earlier in 2017 in a one-sided-love affair. The family had then lodged an FIR but fearing the social stigma and to stay out of legal proceedings. However, Taufeeq kept harassing her.
The father and brother of Nikita Tomar alleged it to be a matter of love-jihad. They alleged that the shooter kept on forcing Nikita to convert her religion and marry him.
