Home » News » Eight Convicted and Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for the Killing of a Jammu Resident Over Land Dispute

A local Jammu court has convicted 10 accused in the homicide case of thrashing and killing Jammu resident over a land dispute. Eight of them are awarded life imprisonment as stated by Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch officials.

Those who got life imprisonment include Ramesh Singh, Tilak Raj, Suram Singh, Balwan Singh, Raghubir Singh, Mangal Singh aka Manga, Manoj Lal, and Tilak Raj. Besides awarding life imprisonment, court has also imposed Rs 10,000 penalty on each one of them.

The court has awarded two years of imprisonment with Rs 10,000 penalty each on the other two accused, Bharat Bhusan and Naresh Kumar.

“It was due to the meticulous and professional investigation by Crime Branch Jammu and effective prosecution that the case ended in a conviction,” stated J&K Crime branch official.

The probe was conducted under Section 302, 147, 149, 352, 201 and 212 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 3/25 and 4/25 of Indian Arms Act.

In 2006, all the 10 accused had trespassed into the house of Bodh Raj in Kanachak area over a land dispute. They were armed with sharp-edged weapons and guns. The assailants attacked Bodh Raj and killed him.
